Ajax's New Muti Man

Rumours of a new muti man at Ajax Cape Town have been doing the rounds recently. Evidently the muti is so strong that two weeks back then Ajax entertained Kaizer Chiefs at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, Ajax head coach Gordon Igesund allowed the new muti man into the dressing room before the game to come and take part in the team talk to inspire the players. Evidently it worked as Ajax produced one of their best performances of the season and held the Amakhosi to a draw.

The Siyagobhoza crew put a call through to Ajax Cape Town CEO John Comitis to find out more about the new mysterious muti man who was evidently making Ajax players stronger and faster than ever before and even assisting in bringing injured players back to health a lot sooner than expected. Comitis was quick to point out that this had nothing to do with muti but rather that Ajax were embracing cutting edge research into the science of muscle activation and that the man employing his techniques on the Ajax players was not a muti man but a qualified physiotherapist who was doing amazing things with the Ajax players.

Sceptical about the claims of massive increases in the strength of some of Ajax's players and with stories of 'mind power' being used to harness the strength and energy of the players, the Siyagobhoza crew booked an appointment with Douglas Heel, the man responsible for the buzz at Ajax.

In a 30 minute chat with Heel, he explained that what he was doing with sportsmen and sports teams around the country has met with a lot of opposition from team doctors and strength trainers because his methods work far quicker than theirs and the gains in strength of the players and the improvement in performance, though there for all to see, are very difficult to explain scientifically. The academics can see that his methods work, it's just that they can't explain them, and therefore there is a certain amount of resistance to them.

Once all the scientific mumbo-jumbo of what he does was over, he offered to demonstrate how it works. Still not convinced, one of the Siyagobhoza crew jumped up on his physiotherapy table and he was told to lie on his back and then come up in a sit-up position and hold that position. Heel then told the disbelieving participant to try and resist him and he pushed down on the chest of the Siya member. With very little effort, the Siya member was forced back into a lying position. Heel then explained that certain muscles were not activated and with a couple of muscle activation techniques where he targeted certain muscle groups in the legs, he asked the Siya member to once again do a sit-up and to hold the position.

This time when Heel pressed down on the Siya member's chest he did not go down. In fact, with Heel exerting all his force onto the chest of the Siya member to the point where his one foot was off the ground, the Siya member still did not budge!
